Process assessment defines VISTAs
Implementation
A small team of VIE consultants works with your group to
develop a Process Assessmentthe state of affairs within your
test system development activity. This study evaluates current practices
and defines future organizational goals.
It takes a diagonal slice through your test or system development
organization: top to bottom and in every critical function. At the
heart of this assessment is value delivery versus costs considerations
for software development. Typically, for an organization of 10-20
test developers, a process assessment--including the report and
an implementation plan--will take place within a 4-6 week period.
At the completion of the study, a consulting report to management
outlines that state of affairs within your test system development
activity. It also includes a plan of attack to meet corporate or
group objectives, including
the implementation of a solid process and practices. This
report is done in collaboration with the VST.
Feedback sessions provide any needed adjustments to the VST Process
Assessment Report. Critical to the success of this evaluation is
the identification of organizational champions in both technical
and business domains.
During this phase, a VISTA Deployment Plan is created defining
the milestones and how they will be achieved. This plan is evaluated
at a cost-benefit level and recommendations are made for steps forward
based upon specific needs.
